E-mobility

Your chargers want a megawatt. Your grid connection doesn't.

Ultra-fast charging demands a lot of power for a few minutes, and upgrading the grid connection is costly and slow. With a BK battery as a buffer, the grid supplies moderate, steady power and the battery covers the DC chargers' peaks.

The problem

A lot of power for a few minutes.

Ultra-fast charging uses less energy than power: huge, short peaks at hours you don't choose.

  • A high-power DC charger draws hundreds of kW for a few minutes; several at once, more than a megawatt.
  • Contracting that much power means paying a very high capacity charge for something used only a few hours a day.
  • Upgrading the grid connection or building a new transformer substation means civil works, permitting and months of waiting.
  • Without control, charging sessions coincide with the consumption peaks of the rest of the site.

How a BK BESS solves it

The grid supplies the average. The battery, the peaks.

The battery recharges slowly from the grid, or from a solar carport, and discharges at full power when vehicles arrive. BK EMS keeps the site from exceeding the grid connection limit.

  1. 01

    Fixed grid limit

BK EMS keeps the power drawn from the grid below the setpoint, whether one or three vehicles are charging.

  2. 02

    Peaks from the battery

The difference between what the chargers demand and what the grid supplies comes from the battery, in real time.

  3. 03

    Recharging between sessions

In the gaps, the battery recharges within the same limit, in cheap hours or from solar.

  4. 04

    Payment and management

Chargers with OCPP 1.6J, upgradable to 2.0.1, and RFID cards, connectable to the payment platform of your choice, for fleets or public use.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before deciding.

What grid power do I need?
Less than the chargers add up to. We calculate it from the expected number of sessions, their duration and the average energy per vehicle: the battery covers the difference.
What happens if lots of vehicles arrive back to back?
If the battery runs out, the chargers share the available grid power and keep charging, more slowly. We size it so that this is the exception.
Is it suitable for fleets?
Yes. We schedule fleet charging in the cheap hours and reserve power for fast top-ups during the day.
Which protocols and payment methods do the chargers support?
OCPP 1.6J (upgradable to 2.0.1) and RFID card identification; payment integrates with the management platform of your choice. For fast charging, CCS2 across the range; Triple and Quad Flow add CCS1 and GB/T, with optional CHAdeMO on Quad Flow.
What if I put solar panels on the carport?
PV recharges the battery during the day and reduces the energy you buy from the grid. BK EMS integrates it into the same strategy.

How many vehicles do you want to charge?
