What the system does
Grid-connected large-scale energy storage
A utility-scale BESS buys energy when there is a surplus and returns it when the grid needs it. Several containers operate as a single power plant, coordinated by the EMS and by a power plant controller (PPC) that follows the system operator's setpoints.
- 01
Price arbitrage: charges in cheap hours and discharges in expensive ones.
- 02
Balancing services and frequency regulation where the market allows.
- 03
Power control at the point of connection and real-time telemetry.
- 04
24/7 monitoring of cells, power conversion and HVAC from the control centre.
Typical functions of this type of system. The specific strategy for each installation is defined by the preliminary study and fine-tuned by the EMS during operation.
